River Thames Society

Upper Thames Branch Charity no.:288380

This conservation group is involved in all aspects of the River Thames, including nature conservation, development, pollution, etc. Their membership is drawn from all lovers of the river, including boat owners, walkers, angling clubs and naturalists. Monthly luncheon meetings are held at the Kings Arms pub (Sandford on Thames) on the last Tuesday of each month. The Upper Thames Branch has recently merged with the Thames Head branch.

Activites and Services:

  • Monthly luncheon meetings - social and business
  • Comments on county/local plans, and relevant planning applications
  • Volunteers provide a warden patrol
  • Yearly programme of events, e.g. boat trips, talks, excursions, walks, etc.

Geographic coverage:

The society works along the whole of the Thames, but the listed branch is interested in the stretch from Mapledurham, through Radcot to the source.
