Cotswolds AONB PartnershipCotswold AONB

The Cotswolds, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in 1966, covers 790 sq miles. The landscape and heritage of the AONB is protected by local authorities from major developments, taking into consideration the needs of those who live and work in the Cotswolds.

The remit of the partnership is wide: testing and developing new ideas and initiatives, managing landscape and local heritage features, implementing recreation and sustainable transport projects and raising awareness and support.

Geographic coverage: The greater part of the AONB is in Gloucestershire, but a substantial area, approx 95 square miles, including Burford, Charlbury and Chipping Norton, is in Oxfordshire and designated as the East District of the AONB.
