South Oxfordshire District Council

South Oxfordshire District Council is working towards achieving the aims set out in a number of important adopted reports and strategies: Priorities for Nature Conservation, South Oxfordshire Rural Strategy and Agenda 21 Strategy. It is developing the wildlife potential of several sites in the district and is actively involved in the development of Local Nature Reserves and working towards the actions identified in the Oxfordshire Biodiversity Action Plan.

Activites and Services:

  • Landscape Conservation and Amenity Tree Planting grants available for pond restoration, amenity tree planting (supply tree/shrubs, staking and fencing, etc) hedge planting and management of small woodlands. These grants provide up to 50% of approved costs
  • Small Nature Conservation grants up to £250 are available for projects that indirectly or directly benefit nature conservation locally and encourage and involve members of the local community
  • Nature Conservation grants for organisations
  • Advice available on a variety of countryside conservation activities within South Oxfordshire
  • Management of Local Nature Reserves
  • Habitat creation and restoration schemes on Council-owned land
