Pond Conservation provides a national focus for ponds. It is unique in
the UK in undertaking pond research that is directly applied to
practical conservation projects.
Activities and services:
- Providing pond conservation information and advice for freshwater
conservation to individuals and voluntary groups.
- Contributing expertise and advice on ponds and pond-life to local, regional,
national and European government and other statutory bodies.
- Supporting the National Ponds Monitoring Network.
- The creation (and restoration) of new clean water ponds (mainly) through the Million Ponds
Project. This is currently active in England and Wales but there are
plans to bring it to Northern Ireland and Scotland as soon as funding
can be secured.
- Advising the public with help for garden ponds, including the garden pond
blog and the garden pond survey, to help research in this area.
