The Ponds Conservation Trust

The Ponds Conservation Trust provides a national focus ponds. It is unique in the UK in undertaking pond conservation research that is directly applied to practical community projects. It works closely with PCT Policy and Research, which is a national centre for applied research on pond ecology and the conservation of freshwater ecosystems.

Activities and services:

  • Providing pond conservation information and advice for freshwater conservation to individuals and voluntary groups.
  • Contributing expertise and advice on ponds and pond-life to local, regional, national and European government and other statutory bodies.
  • Supporting the National Ponds Monitoring Network.
  • The creation and restoration of ponds mainly through the Ponds for Peopel project. This is currently active in Northern England but there are plans to bring it tothe Thames Valley area as soon as funding can be secured.
